Cricket's three formats and favourite tournaments

Before getting into cricket betting, it helps to have a clear understanding of the formats. Each format differs in pace, length and type of result — so the betting markets differ too.

qqee cricket betting markets overview

T20 — the most popular format

This 20-over format is the most widely followed in Bangladesh. BPL, IPL and the ICC T20 World Cup attract the most bets in qqee's cricket betting section. A match wraps up in just three to four hours, so results come quickly.

ODI — the fifty-over test

In a One Day International, each team's innings is 50 overs. Pace, strategy and consistency matter much more here. During World Cup ODI seasons, there is greater variety in the betting markets.

Test — the five-day contest

Test cricket is the longest and strategically the most complex format. A draw is a valid result, so betting markets offer three options — Team A wins, Team B wins or a draw. Pitch conditions and weather play a major role in Test betting.

Football and other sports

Alongside cricket, qqee also offers betting on football. Football results are decided within 90 minutes and a draw is a common outcome, so the "1X2" market is standard there. In cricket, a draw is only possible in Test matches — T20 and ODI must produce a winner. Betting options for kabaddi, badminton and tennis are also available, but cricket and football are the most active markets in Bangladesh.

Major tournaments — the best time to bet

During the BPL season, cricket fever grips Dhaka and the rest of the country — this is when qqee's cricket betting section has the most markets open. IPL matches also draw heavy betting. During the ICC T20 World Cup and Asia Cup, markets for Bangladesh Tigers matches become even broader.

Popular betting markets — how they work

qqee's cricket betting section offers several types of markets. Seven main markets are explained below, each with a simple example.

  • Match Winner Which team will win the match — the simplest market. Example: Team A vs Team B, you think Team A will win, so you place a bet on Team A.
  • Toss Market Which team will win the toss — this is an independent market with no connection to the match result. Betting on this market is heavier when pitch conditions make the toss significant.
  • Top Batsman Which batsman will score the most runs in the match — each team's leading batters are listed with separate odds. Example: you think Team B's number three batsman will score the most runs.
  • Total Runs — Over/Under Whether the total runs scored will be above or below a set number (e.g. 160) — the pitch, ground conditions and weather play a big role in this market. Example: you think Team A will score more than 160, so you bet on "Over".
  • First Wicket Partnership How many runs the two opening batsmen will score together — this market also works on an Over/Under basis. Example: you bet on the option "more than 30 runs".
  • Handicap Betting A virtual advantage or deficit is given to one team to level the market. Example: if Team A is given -15 runs, 15 is deducted from their final score — this reduces the gap between the two teams' strengths.
  • Multi Bet (multiple selections) Combining the results of multiple matches or markets into a single bet. On qqee Bet, winning all selections in a multi bet gives a much higher return, but a single wrong pick loses the whole bet.

How to read odds — three formats

Betting platforms display odds in three different ways — decimal, fractional and American. qqee generally uses the decimal format, but knowing all three is useful.

Example 1 — the same value in three formats

Team A to win, stake ৳500. Decimal odds 2.50 = Fractional 3/2 = American +150.

Return on a winning bet: ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + ৳500 stake returned). If you lose, ৳500 is gone.

With decimal odds, multiply the stake directly to get the total return: ৳500 × 2.50 = ৳1,250.

Example 2 — odds on a favourite

Team B to win (favourite), stake ৳500. Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400.

Return: ৳625 (৳125 profit).

American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win 100 units. Here -400 means you stake ৳400 to win ৳100.

Remember, the lower the odds, the bigger the favourite. Higher odds mean a more uncertain outcome. It is worth calculating the potential return before placing a bet — this is part of the entertainment, not a guarantee of profit.

A practical example of reading cricket odds

Say in a limited-overs match Team A's odds are 1.65 and Team B's are 2.30. If you place ৳500 on Team B and they win, you get back ৳1,150 (৳650 profit). If Team A wins, you lose ৳500. In a Test match, a draw is a third option, so the odds are split three ways.

Odds are published before the match starts during the pre-match phase. In live betting they change after every over or wicket.

Live in-play betting — odds shift when wickets fall

qqee live in-play cricket betting
Live betting is live

Live in-play betting at qqee is one of the most engaging experiences. You can place bets even after the match has started — and the odds change with every ball, wicket or boundary.

Picture this: in the 10th over of a T20 match, Team A has lost 3 wickets for 90 runs. Team B's chances of winning have increased, so Team B's odds will shorten and Team A's will lengthen. Betting on Team A at exactly that moment offers a higher potential return — but the risk is also greater.

Live betting requires quick decisions. Powerplay overs tend to produce more runs, the middle overs (15–17) tend to be slower, and finishers have a big role in the final overs — these small details influence how odds are set in the live market.

In-play betting on Test matches is more complex — the pitch deteriorates over five days, spinners become more effective and the weather changes. The probability of a draw, a Team A win or a Team B win can shift dramatically each session.

A few things to keep in mind before you start betting

Cricket betting is a form of entertainment — it is not a reliable source of income. A few simple habits can help keep the experience controlled.

01

Set a budget first

Decide in advance how much you will spend on betting each month or week, and do not go beyond that limit. Betting is for entertainment, so it is wise not to use money from your main savings or everyday expenses.

02

Focus on one format

Start by choosing one format (such as T20) and learn its markets well. Betting across all three formats at once divides your focus.

03

Check the news before a match

Pitch report, weather and the team's playing XI — these three factors can make a big difference in T20 and ODI matches. Get updates from official cricket news sites or social media.

04

Compare odds

qqee's pre-match odds and live odds for the same market can differ. During live betting, take a moment to read the flow of the match before deciding rather than rushing.

05

Play responsibly

qqee has tools for setting limits for responsible gaming. If betting starts causing stress, taking a break is the right call.

Frequently asked questions

Questions that come up most often about cricket betting at qqee.

Yes, qqee offers betting markets across all three formats. T20 has the most markets as it is the most popular format. Test matches have a slightly different market structure because a draw is a valid result.

In live betting, odds update after almost every ball. Changes are faster when a wicket falls or a big shot is hit. Odds fluctuate the most during the Powerplay and in the final overs.

Yes, every selection in a multi bet must be correct — if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. For example, if three selections have odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.90, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.26 (approximately), and a ৳100 bet returns ৳426 if all three are correct.

Beyond BPL and IPL, qqee also offers betting markets for the ICC T20 World Cup, ICC Cricket World Cup (ODI), Asia Cup and bilateral international series. Markets are updated according to the tournament schedule.

In football there are three possible outcomes — Team A wins, Team B wins or a draw. In T20 and ODI cricket there is no draw, so markets have only two options. In Test cricket a draw is possible. Cricket also has more variety in intermediate markets (Toss, Over/Under, Top Batsman) compared to football.
